A baby shower is the celebration of the birth and welcoming of the newest member of the family. When you attend,you are showing your support, love, attention and friendship for the couple and baby.
There are many details to consider and take care of so that the baby shower will all come together without any mistakes or forgotten details.
The best advice is to start early,and get a good book about baby showers. You will read many ideas that you hadn’t even considered or thought of.
Personal preference dictates when to have the baby shower. My thought is between the 5th and 6th month because the new parents haven’t already bought everything they want and need for the baby.
Many people prefer between month 8 and 9; while some wouldn’t hear of any shower until the after the baby has been born.
The standard practice for sending out the invitations is a month before the party. This way people have time to plan their schedule around it; and haven’t already made other plans,so they can’t attend.
The wording and all the information about the shower is very important. Directions to the shower should also be included.Poem format has a special touch for the invitation.
The theme for the party has to be considered. Winnie the Pooh is very popular. What are the parents favorite small animal? This will give you help for the theme.
The decorations are next on the list to think about.They should be bold and colorful; keeping with the theme of the party.
The food preparation, grocery list,recipes,all should be thought of. Are you, as the host preparing all the food yourself? Are you going to solicit the help of friends and guests? This will drastically cut down on your expense of the shower.
Consider the food table- Are you having the cake on the food table as the centerpiece? Is it having its own separate table? Is the space big enough for the tables?
The gift table can be in the living room away from the food.
What games will you play at the party? What are the prizes?
Think about the shower favors for the guests.
